If you’re using Monero or other crypto to buy gift cards, you don’t want to deal with sketchy sites or awkward moments at checkout. After testing a bunch, here’s my top 5 list, ranked from best to least favorite.
1. Foot Locker – #1 By Far!
Foot Locker is lightyears ahead of everyone else. You can easily add your card number and PIN to Google Wallet (or whatever wallet app you use), and their barcode scanner works perfectly in-store. No stress, no fumbling—just scan and go.
Big props to Foot Locker for actually keeping up with the times. More companies should copy what they’re doing!
2. Speedway – Awesome Customer Service
At first, I had issues with Speedway’s QR code (their app and website were down when I tried). But here’s the kicker—their customer service was amazing.
They even had a white American lady helping me on the phone (shoutout to Speedway for hiring local call centers—people respect that!). She stayed on the line while driving back to the store just to walk me through transferring my digital balance to a physical card. Honestly, that’s way cooler than using some glitchy app.
Bonus: Speedway’s adding in-app ordering soon, so you’ll be able to grab nachos before pumping gas. Love it.
3. Subway – PDF Vouchers Work Flawlessly
Google Wallet doesn’t work with Subway’s gift cards, but their PDF voucher system is rock-solid. Just download or print the PDF, and the barcode scans 100% accurate at the register.
Pro Tip for Android Users:
Open the PDF in Tor Browser (if you’re extra paranoid).
Or stash it in Samsung Secure Folder for offline access.
4. H&M – No App, No Problem
H&M’s barcode won’t scan in Google Wallet, but guess what? You don’t even need it. Just tell the cashier your card number and PIN, and you’re done—no Wi-Fi or data needed.
(Though, H&M usually has good Wi-Fi if you do need it.)
5. Walmart – It Works… But Meh
Walmart’s gift cards function, but their app is way too confusing. Don’t get me wrong—I like Walmart. The employees are always cool, and I’ve never had a bad experience (knock on wood).
But their system is just overcomplicated. I wish they’d let you type in the numbers at self-checkout (like H&M) or use a simple PDF barcode (like Subway) instead of forcing their app.
Final Thoughts
If you’re buying gift cards with crypto:
Foot Locker is the undisputed champ.
Speedway gets major points for customer service (and hiring Americans!).
Subway’s PDF system is reliable.
H&M is the easiest for no-app purchases.
Walmart works, but they need to simplify things.
—I’ll add more to the list later.
Cheers to living off crypto without the stress!

One day, my dad started having really bad anxiety attacks in church and couldn’t figure out why—until he asked his pastor a simple question about Jesus’ deity: "If Jesus is God, how could He be tempted?" The pastor’s response didn’t defend Jesus’ divinity; in fact, it almost seemed like the pastor didn’t even believe Jesus was God. Words in the Bible ca…
