DOOMATH: When DOOM Meets Arithmetic
– A Math FPS Built in C with Raylib
There’s a new kind of FPS in town, and it doesn’t just test your aim—it tests your arithmetic.
Meet DOOMATH: a first-person math shooter where reloading your weapon requires solving arithmetic problems under fire.
Solve fast. Kill faster.
The Concept
DOOMATH is a DOOM-inspired arena FPS built from the ground up in C using raylib. You fight waves of enemies across four themed levels—Lab, Sewer, Fortress, and the Final Depths—each with unique textures and a boss encounter.
The twist? Every time you hit R to reload, the game throws a math problem at you: addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division. And you can’t fire again until you solve it correctly.
Miss the math? You’re dead.
Gameplay Highlights
Level 1: The Math Lab – Addition problems gate your reloads. The dino-blob enemies seem harmless. They are not.
Level 2 Boss Fight – Solve subtraction problems while a horde closes in and the boss eats your health bar.
Features
Math-gated reloading – difficulty scales with wave progression
5 weapons – Pistol, Triple Shot, Shotgun, Rapid Fire, Rocket Launcher
4 themed levels – unique floor/wall/ceiling textures and bosses
Wave-based combat – survive timed waves with increasing enemy count and speed
Particle system – muzzle flash, explosions, hit markers
Floating damage numbers
Difficulty scaling – Easy (1 wave + boss), Normal/Hard (3 waves per level)
Screen shake and kill streaks
Arcade speed mode

Final Thoughts
DOOMATH is a brilliant example of how game mechanics can turn “boring” subjects into adrenaline-pumping action. It’s part educational, part chaotic shooter, and entirely creative. If you’ve ever wanted to practice mental math while dodging pixel-art demons, this is your game.

Life As A Video Game, written by "Jared Schlar" #Experiences #Life #Gaming
What if at the top of the food chain, life is just like a video game? The objective is to gather and steal resources, ruthlessly destroy your enemies, collect trophies in the form of assets, women and other objects to gain pleasure, power, status and money. You become detached from humanity and become extremely self-centered. After all, if you have the …

The year was 1993. I was distraught over failing my undersea school project simply because my teacher insisted that Nessie, the Loch Ness Monster, wasn’t real. Imagine being so cruel as to crush a kid’s spirits—and fail them—ov…
