How Dinogo Go! Glow! Was Inspired by Highlights Magazine at the Dentist
It’s not every day that you get inspiration for a children’s book while sitting in a dentist’s office, but that’s exactly what happened when I first came up with the idea for DINOGO GO! GLOW!.
During a routine visit to the dentist, I found myself flipping through a copy of Highlights Magazine—the beloved magazine known for its puzzles, stories, and fun activities for kids. As I sat in the waiting room, waiting for my appointment, I became engrossed in the magazine’s bright illustrations and engaging content. The whimsical stories and playful art style sparked an idea in my mind: why not create a story that combines fun, imagination, and a memorable character that would capture the same magic that Highlights did for me?
That’s when Dinogo, the glowing monster, was born! I wanted to create a character that was full of energy, joy, and color—just like the puzzles and stories I had loved so much as a child. The idea of a fun-loving monster that kids could connect with, a character that would make them smile and inspire their imaginations, seemed like the perfect fit.
In many ways, Highlights influenced the heart of DINOGO GO! GLOW!—a story full of colorful moments, playful monsters, and a sense of adventure that would make kids feel like they were part of something fun and exciting.
So, the next time you find yourself at the dentist’s office, remember that inspiration can come from the most unexpected places!
